My bold prediction. AC Milan 2 Liverpool 0 but I want Liverpool to win due to Milan's scandal. My big head vs my strong heart.

Predictions, Liverpool 3 AC Milan 3.

Penalty shoot-out, and Liverpool will emerge winners.

The final was a cagey affair with both sides playing like grandmasters of the chess game. Contrasting emotions of both camps at the final whistle with Benitez berating on the length of stoppage time given while cameramen all trailing Inzaghi as he applauded the spectators. Perhaps Benitez had reason to feel aggrieved because Kuyt's goal had raised hopes of Istanbul Part 2. Nothing taken away from Milan, they had just about enough more class.
The outstanding highlight to me of this final was the celebrations of the Milan players at the final whistle. They have finally exorcised the ghosts of Istanbul.

Cheers,
kel

In the end, attacking football won the day over negative and suffocating brand of mediocrity. Oh how sweet it is not having to subject ourselves to hear those fans singing "6 times!!! 6 times!!!". How the wine that Ancelotti gave Sir Alex is gonna taste sweeter than those he had tasted before as he toasts this victory to the man that outwitted him with aplomb. Any team that beats United convincingly deserves to be Champions. So congratulations Milan!!!

P.S. We're still going to hear all these talk about Milan not being worthy champions due to their involvement in the match-fixing thingy in the days to come. In any case, blame UEFA for allowing them to play, not the team itself...

Yes ahh!!!!!!!!

How ironic, despite all the scandal, the Italians win the major trophies.

Sorry to gloat, but I won't be hearing "6 times!", I'm ecstatic over that!

Wondered why they played "Blue is the Colour" just now.. Didn't hear any Man Utd song being played. Maybe Roman had something to do with that HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

At least Liverpool will take comfort in having won the erm.. Charity Shield this season.. After dropping all competitions for the Champions League this season, Rafa had the cheek to say that his players were knackered and tired. Excuses, excuses. So who really is the best manager in England now? Not Rafa.

Highlight of the match? Seeing Liverpool lose it and score a suspiciously offside consolation goal.

Oh.. ok seriously, it was Kaka's defence-splitting pass that lead to the goal. True quality from the REAL deserving world player of the year.

Did anyone follow my 1X2 prediction? If so, give me 1/2 of your winnings. Send cheques to my father. You follow my prediction and never pay me money. Not fair, lah.

After today, I think Stevie G had better shut his trap about winning this and that but bottling it when the crunch time comes. Remember last year's World Cup? I'm laughing my socks off. Now who's the pussycat Steve?

The highlights of the game were the overall good nature of the match between the two finalists and seeing the evergreen legendary Maldini lifting that holy grail of European football once again.

Like I say besides Kaka there are still other potential match winners and it was Inzaghi who live up to the expectation on the big night proving Ancelotti made the right choice.

Poor Liverpool went behind with a fluke goal but there was no denying that Milan was more experienced in such occassion and lightning never strike twice this time round. The classier Milan deserved that victory.

It was a re-staging of the 'smash and grab' finals 2 years ago but this time round, Milan managed it through clinical finishes and putting Liverpool under the surgical knives.

Liverpool did controlled the game but it was the class, quality and experience which won AC Milan the game.

It pretty much summed up Liverpool's season in all when they looked in the driving seat yet didn't have the quality upfront to kill off games.

But it might all be a blessing in disguise for Liverpool as only in defeat, Rafa Benitez will look at the squad's weaknesses and addresses it in the upcoming summer transfer window, which to me, will be a turning point in the club's history.

It is appalling how Liverpool did not managed to win this game. They dominated a off colour Mila, but all they only had 1 late goal to show for their efforts. They should have scored 3 or 4, especially given Milan scored 1 from a half chance, and 1 from the only other chance of the game.

It is down to benitez tactie...

Playing 5 in the midfield, RB clearly going for win in the midfield battle which the team took control of..

But it is down to the selection of the "lone"striker... Of the three strikers crouch, Kuyt and bellamy, crouch by all mean is the most threatening and effective... Kuyt style of play has always been dropping back into midfield area... Hence the chioce of "lone striker" is rather obvious.. It shd goes to crouch..

And the way how the game went, number of times Pennant get into space on the right wing but fail to find the target man he was looking for prove crucial... Liverpool shd have score before Milan Fluke goal...

Lastly,
Crouch shd be sub into the game much earlier than 78 minutes..

the better team lose...

A night of perseverance & triumph..A battle of tatics between Rafa & Ancelotti..A tale of one who get it right and the other who get it all wrong ... that is how I will describe the Champions League Final..AC Milan persevered and they triumph..Yup sound like Liverpool rite but no..this time Liverpool was dominating the game and they could finish of the game in the 1/2 half where shots after shots are wasted by Liverpool..That is why they have no one to blame but themselves..what I'm feeling now..DISAPPOINTED..not really cause they played hard, brought the game to Milan and did their best..I really appreciate the REDS for that and I applaud them...UPSET..DEFINITELY!!because they played better than Milan..But I guess it is fated that it is AC Milan time to shine..Well life is unfair but football is cruelly unfair I guess..Its hard to accept when we lose by a fluke goal & by a single lapse of concentration...Well the final whistle has been blown(unfairly again as it was blown before the extra time was up) and the curtain of the Champions League Final has been drawn..AC Milan is the deserving CHAMPIONS for taking whatever few chances they had and making full use of it..CONGRATS TO AC MILAN..You are truly a worthy opponent :)

I still want my money.

AC Milan does not deserve to be in the competition in the first place.

1) They weren't Serie A champions.

2) Because of their scandal.

The Champions League should be a league of Champions. Let the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placing teams play in the UEFA Cup for all I care even that meaning my beloved Chelsea plays in the UEFA Cup.

And if anyone has a problem with that, they can visit my street soccer court and I'll show you what an intelligent player I am.

anyone realise something?

out of four teams in the semis, three were english. but the only italian team won it.

last year, the Gunners went out to barca (sadly) and boro was whitewashed by sevilla.

surely, the EPL can't be the best league now, right?

but ironically... isn't it strange how some players like forlan & kanoute couldn't make it in the EPL but made it big in La Liga?

Q-S, pls do not blow your trumpet or flatter yourself cos you might fall flat on your face and your words might backfire on you some day. Even I don't dare proclaim I am a good player, what more an intelligent one. Pls pls pls be careful with what you have to say cos really, you don't want to be a laughing stock in here do you???

SGGOONER brought up an interesting thought worth pondering. It looks like the Premiership ain't the best yet in terms of European supremacy. But people still prefer it over the other leagues, heck even over our own S-League. The style of play still excites the average fan. With rich history and tradition from teams like Manchester United and Liverpool, it is no wonder we still look forward to it week in week out...
