Question of the Week (Chelsea overtake Man U?)

Hi all,

IT'S time for the Question of the Week again, to be answered by 3pm on Monday (18 Dec).

But you'll also have to answer the following week's Postman's Christmas Question in advance over this weekend (see instructions in the post below).

That's because the "Post Office" will be closed on 25 Dec.

The first topic is quite simple. True to his pre-match boast, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho saw his side cut the gap to five points with Man U by their narrow win over Newcastle yesterday.

The Postman's Question of the Week: Do you think Mourinho and Chelsea can overtake Man U eventually and win the EPL?

Reply to this question by 3pm on Monday in not more than 200 words.

Post your views by clicking on "comments" below my poll below, or e-mail The New Paper's sports desk under the title "Question of the Week".

Click link right for a cut & paste word counter if needed.

The winner of both Letters of the Week will win a clip-styled digital music player - the iPod shuffle - worth $138 from iShop by Club 21 at Cineleisure Orchard.
The Writer of the Month will win a iPod nano worth $348 (for more technical details, click the other link on the right)

Chelsea can overtake Manchester United. I expect Manchester United's game at Liverpool on 3 March 2007 to be the major turning point of the season. Chelsea would have turn the tables then by leading with five or seven points. The hunter will then become the prey. Manchester United will try and try but they will not be able to catch up with Jose Mourinho's men. Chelsea has backup for every department if one of the untouchables get injured. If either Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic gets injured, Manchester United are in for a lot of trouble. Who's going to step in? Push Gary Neville to central defence? Play Wes Brown there? Forget it. Expect Manchester United to lose or draw against the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United or Portsmouth. At 14 April 2007, Chelsea will stamp their authority by beating Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. By then, it's very clear that Chelsea would have emaluate what Manchester United did - winning three Premiership titles in a row. How about making it four or five in a row, Mr. Mourinho? You the man.

Chelsea may be trailing Manchester United by 5 points now, but what matters is the end result come May.

Manchester United's good start to the season is the main reason why they are at the top of the table now. Except for 2 draws and one solitary defeat at their rivals' hands, Arsenal, Manchester United have won their other 14 games out of 17. In short, Fergie's men have only drop 7 points.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are having their lousiest start to the Premiership under Jose Mourinho. Chelsea lost only once in their first 17 games in their previous 2 Premiership seasons under Mourinho. However, Chelsea have lost twice this season and drawn thrice. This have not been helped by the injury to Petr Cech.

But, and I emphasised the BUT, Chelsea have the quality among all their players. Something Manchester United cannot afford. For every position, Jose Mourinho have 2 players to choose from. But for Alex Ferguson, he doesn't have that kind of luxury. If Gary Neville gets injured, Manchester United is in deep trouble. Play Wes Brown there?

That will be the reason to why Chelsea will win the Premiership for the third consecutive time. Mourinho (who is famous for his mind games) will surely pile up his mind games come December. He was saying Arsene Wenger is a vouyer last season and we can expect more from him this year. Espically since Chelsea is sitting behind Manchester United in the table. And I also feel December is the most important month of the whole Premiership season because of the matches each team play. Both Manchester United and Chelsea will play 7 games in December and we will see who can survive the fixutre pile-up at January.

Being a neutral here, I would definitely welcome some1 else winning the EPL. The fact that this year Man U has become more consistent shows simply that this season they really want to wrestle back the title from Chelsea, and i feel that they will win the title eventually.

For the past 2 seasons, Man U were not able to stake their claim at the title due to matches thrown away at opponents who were deemed "lightweight". However, the gritty performances seen this year, example the one at Blackburn, shows that this COULD just be the year where they would get back their title.

No doubt Chelsea has the edge over Man U in terms of squad depth and of course, Jose himself, BUT, i felt that he is too used to be in the lead, and now that he has to play catch-up to the original master of mind games, it might be abit too much for him.

Man U are well known for their superb form during the March-April run in, and i believe that it will continue this season.Another thing we have to put in mind is the European games in a few months time. Will the 2 teams feel the heat then? He might not say it, but Jose definitely has more focus on it, the signings simply explains this.

Sir Alex has also said that the way in which they could lose is by being too bothered by what Jose is saying. We have all see how Arsene had fall for his mind games, but Sir Alex is a different ball game altogether.

On a whole, i still feel that Man U could get their title this year.

5 points might not be deemed as too much of a difference in this 2 horse race but in such a tight competition,a point is as good as gold.

As we have witnessed the almost unbelievably consistancy of the Blues mean machine and their reluctancy to drop any points on their way en route to title for past 2 season. That is what led to Sir Alex on emphasizing the importance of having a flying start at the beginning of the season which the Devils have done so far.

This picture posed a test of title credential to this 2 top dogs here. However I will say Man Utd could just edge out Chelsea this time round simply due to the thirst of EPL success in the Devils.

Its been sometimes since Devils had a touch on the EPL title and not just the young players but the good oldies of Neville,Giggs and Scholes want that feeling of winning again.Add youth and enthusiasm in the squad with the experience of the old men,it should be enough to take them through this time.

As a liverpool fan,I would still rather have Manchester United winning the EPL this season. They are playing the best football this season. Chelsea on the other hand are not consistent compared to their last two season perfermonces. They seem to be having trouble with their two signings which really doesn't fit to a already good squad. For Chelsea's Drogba and Sheva to score more goals, they really need wingers to provide those balls in. Unless Jose starts to change his formation, Man U will be this season champion. Much to my unhappiness!

Although Chelsea had a comfortable lead at the end of last season most clubs no longer consider them as invincibles. They have shown some chinks in their armour and a lot of managers are now exploiting the idea that they can be humbled.

They are trailing halfway to the season and most of the time they are not too convincing in their victories. Last two seasons Chelsea were able to stomp their authority against the big rival clubs but I can't see it happening this year.

Accomodating Ballack and Shevchenko had changed the dimension of their game and their superstars had become one too many.

Many pundits would argue that end of the season where wear and tear would play a big advantage on Chelsea's depth and eventually wore out a depleted Man United squad. But ManU had been there before and they know to protect the lead and sustain their momentum.

Jose's "Untouchables" comments could work againts him. If the idea was supposed to motivate those who were not untouchables it could also lead to player's dissension. Chelsea had more to lose than Man United in this championship race. A couple loses more and who knows, Chelsea could self destruct.

It's weird watching Chelsea chasing behind Man U. For the past 2 seasons, we've been so used to the opposite senario that the title is a forgone conclusion with the only the second spot up for grabs for the chasing pack.

Assuming that no major injuries hit both teams and Man U to lose the game at Stamford Bridge, then Man U will edge out Chelsea with 2 points to 'spare'. This is indeed the first real test of Chelsea's title credentials.

The next 7 games will be like cup finals to both teams. Any slip up by either team could mean a runaway league leader or a new team at the summit. Expect both managers to play mind games with each other. in my opinion, whichever team is at the top after the next 7 games has a higher possibility of clinching the EPL title.

Being a die-hard Man U fan, i would love to be biased and say that this year is Man U's year to land another Premiership title. However, the key period or as Sir Bobby Robson calls it, 'squeaky-bum period', will be the run in between march and april. By then we will clearly see who deserves to win the premier league. Make no mistake the red devils are playing scintilating football, fluid attacking play coupled with solid defensive work which we Man U fans haven't seen in many years. However, Chelsea are no slouches either. Despite them failing to outscore the red devils, they have been busy grinding out results, which is the hallmark of champions and with the quality of players available to Jose, who could well afford to leave Arjen Robben and Shaun Wright-Phillips on the bench, there is no denying that chelsea have the ability to overtake Man U but with the transfer window looming, as long as Sir Alex bring in cover (like Owen Hargreaves) and rooney and co maintain their performance, maybe i can finally, with glee, see Gary Neville lift the trophy come May instead of John Terry.C'mon Chelsea, Bring It On !!!

Pujangga Malam said...

If United steers clear from injuries to key players like Rooney and Saha then who is to say, they are not up for the title??? However their failure to beat Arsenal & Chelsea at home coupled with the fact they have to travel to Anfield, Stamford Bridge and the Emirates Stadium in the second half of the season could be crucial.

As a United fan, I have to be realistic at my team's chances. I for one am not confident they can do it even though deep down I hope they do. But judging by the way Chelsea have been grinding out results, it's only a matter of time before someone throws a spanner at United and the Blues will take over in no time.

kelvin kwek said...

If Man U can stay clear of injuries to its key players, they will have an enormous chance of breaking Chelsea's stranglehold on the EPL. Larsson's experience could be crucial especially as he needs little introduction to British football. They need not spend big in the transfer window because as most Jan signings have shown, they need time to adapt to the team. Targetted players like Torres and Hargreaves will need time to adapt to a new league even if they are bought.
As the EPL is a marathon and not a sprint, Chelsea's superior depth be crucial come the run-in for the title. However, I expect Man U to at least run much closer to the Blues this time round if they fail to win the title this season.

Cheers,

To me, the transfer activity that Manchester United does in January will be the biggest factor if they will win the title.Chelsea already had squad depth and Manchester United need to have enough players of stepping in and replace the starting 11.The period from Feburary will be the busiest and injuries will start to creep in.Chelsea might be making 1 or 2 top signings as well.Currently, Man yoo have a 5pt lead over Chelsea and it seems big. However,Mourinho will not let Man yoo have any breathing space throughout the season. To me, Chelsea to win this one.If Man yoo can win the title, it will be their best ever triumphant.

I buy the newpaper everyday.I enjoy reading the Tohari Paijan column not because his analysis is good but because its crap. After the Newcastle game, he said that this is not a good time for Mourinho to tinker. However, i remember after the Arsenal game, Tohari claimed that Chelsea's diamond midfield lack width and Robben and SWP should be brought on earlier to change the game around.Against Castle,Mourinho threw Robben and SWp in from the start and Tohari claims that he was tinkering?! What's Mr Tohari thinking about? Can anyone explain to me?

Though United is currently top with a 5 point lead, what’s more important is who is top come May. With both teams still involved in Europe, the season run in holds greater importance. It all depends on who has the stronger squad and the experience to win it.

Competing in Europe and the EPL will be physically draining. Having a strong squad is vital with a congested fixture list. Though United has a strong first team, it lacks strength in depth. If its key players succumb to injury, United’s weak squad will tell. Chelsea, however, is a strong outfit with ready-made replacements at every position.

In such situations, experience counts a lot. While traditionally United are strong in the latter stages of the season, they do have a young squad. Though they still have the likes of Neville, Scholes and Giggs, Chelsea simply possesses too much experience, guile and talent to allow their title to slip away.

With most of its players having been in the mix for the past 2 seasons, Chelsea knows what it takes to win championships. Coupled with an astute manager in Jose and Roman’s deep pockets come January, it is really Chelsea’s title to lose.

As a Chelsea fan, I'm frustrated at Man U's flying start to the season. All credits go to Ferguson. He even went a step further by using the press to psych his team up by using the idea of achieving the tremble as a 'bait'. He is truly a master of mind games. As we approach the half way line, I hoped that Chelsea can trim the 5 points gap.

The truth is that the new Chelsea team has yet to fully gel as a team, often relying on individual brilliance to bail the team out. Time is clearly not on Mourinho's side and he needs to come out with solutions fast before Chelsea fades out of the title race. Change of tactics or personnel might just do the trick.

On the other hand, Man U continued where they left off last season and continue with their vein of rich form. This season, they have developed consistency and are more ruthless in front of goal. The trio strike team has provided lots of goals and assist. They have also tightened up at the back. But I feel that Man U will find it hard to replicate the same form in the second half of the season.

Luck, new signings, injuries and suspensions will also play an important part in defining the title race. Expect Chelsea to nick the title. Barely just only.

Diyana said...

Of course NO! This is due to the weak formation Chelsea is playing. They need to play fast football and have stronger defence than Manchester United. In fact,Manchester United seem to be playing at their best form this season.

Mourinho's players are not showing their skills openly. The ones that scored the goal is usually the same person like drogba. Unlike Manchester United players, they have different players to score the goal.

As a Manchester United fan,I don't think Chelsea can overtake Man U and let Jose Mourinho feels how tough is it to catch-up with the 'hot' red devils.

Who become Premiership champions is down to the teams’ European aspirations and how far they go in the competition.

The Champions League remains the Holy Grail and both are fully committed to winning it. With favorable draws, it boils down to who has the stronger squad to sustain the challenge on both fronts.

While it’s not impossible to achieve the Double or Treble in a season, having a strong squad does help.

Signing Larsson was a masterstroke but does he have able replacements in other positions? There isn’t enough class on the bench to compensate for injuries or suspensions to his first team players to keep the momentum going on both fronts.

Ferguson should pray nothing happens to his stars. However, in a long season, that is simply impossible.

Jose, however, does not have such problems. However, he must decide on his best eleven quickly or risk falling further behind United.

Though the desperation of wanting to win in Europe could provide a distraction, Chelsea has such strength in depth that I cannot see Chelsea faltering in the Premiership. It’s not in Chelsea’s nature to give up their title without a fight.

So let the fireworks and mind games begin.

Man Utd surely lost in the area of having quality depth when compared to Chelsea. However when emergency times come,it is also a chance for the bench warmers to prove their worth.P.Neville was a good example few seasons back when he played exceptionally well in midfield in the absence of Keane. So we shouldn't write off Devils 2nd tier players just yet.

On the other side,Chelsea having too many stars might not be to their advantage too.Who knows when their egos will clashes with that of Mourinho's.Signs of internal affair have already arise in the case for Robben and Cavalho.Just waiting the Blue Galaticos effect to happen.

Chelsea is also showing signs of their nerves with their gaffer and key players coming out issuing warnings to the Devils on their title charge.I guess this is due to the fact that they have never been in such a tense title chase for the past 2 years and these personalities have to clam the rocking boat. While here is where Devils past experience surpassed the Blues.

Just like they said, you can buy anything with money but not the experience.

Cheers,
Eric

They lost matches to boro and spurs away which they take the lead first ! Ballack had settel down quite ok but not Schevo ! HE may return to Milan !! HE cannot play in England which is more physical ! I believe Chelsea win nothing this year ! haha ! Trust me ! I am great to predict thing ! Yeah

After 3 season without the league title, Ferguson will want to avoid making it the 4th, especially when their destiny is in their own hands now. 19 more consecutive wins and the title is set to return to Old Trafford.

Lacking in terms of depth? I don't think so. It's just another one of wily Fergie's mind game. The signing of Larrsson, plus key players recovering from injuries and loan players being recalled back meant that Man U is in a much better position than perceived. On top of that, if the latest transfer rumors are real, Man U will further strengthen its midfield and striking department considerably. How's that for 'lacking' in depth?

In as much as I don't want to admit it, Man U's flying start has made Chelsea looked ordinary. Unless something drastic intervenes, it's hard to visualize Chelsea emulating Man U's 3 consecutive title wins. The title is for Man U to lose! As a Chelsea fan, I can only pray and hope for the best. Whatever the outcome, it's been a much more exciting title race this time round as compared to the last few.

The question is: Will Chelsea OVERTAKE Man U? Right now, it is difficult enough for Chelsea to catch up with Man U, as Man U has to perform poorly in at least two games. Correspondingly, Chelsea has to do well in their games from here on out.

Once Chelsea catch up with Man U, then what? Then Chelsea has to work on gaining the points and overtaking Man U. That, I feel, is where the main difficulty lies. Chelsea has had trouble finding its feet this season. In the past few games, Chelsea has only managed to score one goal per match. Their attack force has left much to be desired.

Conversely, the general critique is that Man U lacks depth. However, their players are all-rounded - able not only to defend, but attack as well. In attack, Saha, Rooney, Ronaldo, Scholes and Giggs all pose threats. With the returning Solskjaer, as well as incoming Rossi and Larsson, their attack will be bolstered. Add to that a relatively stronger defence this season, and Man U have a good shot at the Premiership title this season.

Chelsea, catch them if you can! And if you can, try overtaking them. It's going to be an uphill task all the way, and self-confidence can only help Chelsea so far.

Nor Hadi said...

Indeed, it is possible United could go on to claim their 9th Premiership crown in a decade. However, it is also possible Chelsea could overtake United and achieve a Treble of titles. Nothing is impossible in football.

Situations can change dramatically in football and a 5 point lead is by no means a comfortable lead. Whoever achieves the greater consistency in the latter stages of the season would nick it. Can Chelsea overtake United? Of course they can.

The distractions of Europe will determine who wins the crown. Fergie is desperate to win it again while Jose is vying for the only title, apart from the FA cup, he has yet to reap. Whoever over-commits in Europe may find themselves physically taxed come the domestic matches.

Here is where strength in depth and experience is critical. Teams can no longer depend on their best eleven players to see them through; which is why having a strong and experienced squad is important. So who has the better squad and the greater experience? Undoubtedly, it’s Chelsea.

As Kelvin mentioned, the title race is a marathon, not a sprint. Both are deserving winners but expect blue ribbons on that cup come May.

Basically, i think that Chelsea will never get to overtake Manchester Utd. As you can see, things aren't going well for Sheva. What if suddenly Drogba gets injured? I'm sure Chelsea will get to drop a few more points if that happens. Kalou issn't making any progress either.

Don't forget Chelsea will have to travel to Anfield and Emirates on 20th Jan and 5th May respectively. It won't be easy i say. And away game to Villa would be a tricky tie.

Yes, you might say how about the game at Stamford Brige with man utd? Man utd got thrashed 3-0 last season, but lighting won't struck twice. At the most the result would most probably be a draw.
But Man utd will also have to travel to Emirates and definately they will seek revenge and get a result there. Trust me Man utd will come out top and be the champions.

No way chelsea's going to win three consecutive titles. Let's wait and see who will have the last laugh.

Definately not Mr Mourinho.

i'd love to say no, but we all know how strong chelsea is, and how brilliant a manager mourinho is, so i'm not going to ignore the possiblity.

the difficlut period in the season is approaching, and injuries will hurt Man United more than it will hurt chelsea.

man united's squad is pretty thin. currently the rock of their defense are ferdinand and vidic. if either gets injured, their substitutes could never emulate the rapport these two have. in midfield, it seems that carrick have fitted in well and is the trigger for most midfield movement. without him, the midfield won't be this strong. fletcher is improving but nowhere near carrick's class. o'shea is..well..what rhymes with it. and the attacking options is pretty limited. 5 (going on 6) and with smith lacking fitness and rossi not ready for the big stage, the burden is on saha and rooney. solksjaer is not that young; he can't last 90 minutes. if both rooney and saha are out, it's almost the end of their strikers.

chelsea have more choices due to their larger squad. but as proven by one of their previous games, their reserves is miles apart from the first team. but somehow they always get a win.

unless injuries evade manchester united, and mourinho keeps on tinkering with his team and underestimating his opponents, there's a logical chance chelsea will overtake man utd.

but i hate to admit that, so i'll still say that my team (man utd) will win the premiership this time.

Chelsea has the capability and the ability to overtake Man U. However, I think at the end of the day, the red devils will fight their way through for the title. I will further discuss this in the later part.
In response to the matches involving Man U and Chelsea on Sunday, we can see that Chelsea is more driven and motivated to complete in the title race. Chelsea has kept their form consistent but lately they tend to let their opponent take the lead before they do. Nevertheless, the blues are able to overcome the situation and claim their 3 points at the end of the match.
On the other hand, Man U seem to loosen down after a few winning streaks. This will cost them to lose their place at the top of the table. On the contrary, Man U is more motivated when they are under opponent’s threat and pressure. Man U’s form is not consistent enough but most of the time the produce results.
Now, the reds are leading the blues with only 2 points. With the pressure and threat by Chelsea, the devils will once again unleash themselves to secure their place!

Both Chelsea and Man U have not been impressive during this weekend's matches. Admittedly, Chelsea did manage a breakthrough. Despite scoring only one goal per match recently, they managed to surpass their quota, probably assuring them of a good year-end bonus. On the other hand, Man U did not manage to score despite sending on 5 forwards - essentially Ferguson's showhand.

Chelsea still have a long way to go, and a gruelling few weeks ahead. I still stand by my previous opinion - it is one thing for Chelsea to catch up, it is an entirely different matter when it comes to Chelsea overtaking Man U. Chelsea did not look entirely convincing against Everton, and their goals all resulted from individual efforts. Man U departed from their usual flowing style, and Cristiano Ronaldo was significantly closed down upon by the West Ham players, denying him the space to create goals. It was definitely Man U's off-day, and a tremendous victory for struggling West Ham. However, it was good to see Solskjaer and Park Ji Sung back in the game.

Can Chelsea catch up with Man U? Perhaps. But at the end of the season, Man U has the better staying power and the better team, to clinch the Premiership title.

Anonymous said...

Chelsea's individual brilliance bailed the team out at Everton today. 3 unbelievable strikes from 3 world class players. As mentioned earlier, Chelsea has yet to gel as a team. The best advantage that Chelsea has over Man U is a quality bench. When the chips are down, the bench is always there to provide the response. Man U do not have that luxury. Compare the subs that came on for Chelsea, Shevchenko , Kalou and Bridge to O'Shea, Park and Solskjaer. Chelsea subs added new dimensions and posed problems to the Evertonian defense and Everton was clearly being stretched in the second half.

Rooney, Saha and Ronaldo were pale shadows of their usual selves. They need to be more consistent if they want to displace the Chelsea. Like what Ferguson mentioned, they need to make their chances count. Teams will punish Man U for their wastefulness.

Is the West Ham game a one-off blip or is Man U beginning to crack under Chelsea's pressure? I stand by what I've mentioned earlier that Man U has peaked way too early and might have great difficulty in emulating the same form for the second half of the season. Chelsea, on the other hand, are just grinding out results game after game. They have yet to peak. 6 more games and we'll have a better picture of the league.

cfcfan said...

Yes, most definitely.

In potential wise, its abovious that Man Utd are playing the best they possibly can, and Chelsea are playing quite badly, and let's check the difference: 2 points.

Last season, Chelsea started well and United were playing badly. Difference: 18 points.

I know who I'll back to win the title this season.

ladylala said...

I'm usually wrong in my predictions, but I'm still going to say that I think Chelsea will eventually overtake Man U. After all... it's now only TWO points!

This season has been considerably more interesting than the previous two. There are a few teams who have been performing above themselves lately, and they don’t include either Chelsea or Man U. The two sides’ recent performances haven’t been exceptional, and in addition to the fatigue from the World Cup, their players have been made to slog really hard for positive results this season.

However, because the League is a 10-month long war, I think the team with the more quality will eventually win it. Psychologically, I feel both Fergie and Mourinho are on par. Fergie has the experience, Mourinho has the character, and both are convinced their side will be the eventual conquerors. But whereas tired legs may start giving way for the Man U side during this harsh cold winter, I think Chelsea's depth will help them pull through. And in the event when things aren't going as planned for Chelsea, individual talents like Drogba and Lampard can always pull a rabbit out from the hat and get them the results.

Umar said...

Chelsea will overtake ManU for the EPL. Although ManU is leading by 5 points, Chelsea will overtake them. The reason is Chelsea have more quality players. The title race will be lot harder when the Champion league comes. The games will be scheduled tightly and as a result, managers need to rotate the players to ensure players do not suffer from exhaustion, fatigue or even worse injury (these can effect the performance of the players). ManU have about 15 players that have the quality to play in the first-11 but Chelsea have 22 players or even more to play in the first-eleven. The key to be the EPL champion is consistency and ‘must always be forward looking’

vette said...

I don’t think it is whether Chelsea can overtake Man U but rather when. Today’s results have proven that Chelsea will overtake Man U eventually and win the EPL. Now there is only a 2-point gap. The end of the tough Christmas week will see Chelsea ahead if not on par with Man U. The return fixture will be the decide-cruncher. Fergie for all his experience in the Premiership is no match for Mourinho and his mind tactics. Chelsea players have an edge over their counterpart. Determination. Truly, that is what separates the two teams this morning. Thus, expect Man U to falter and Chelsea to reign once again.

Also, even though Chelsea are playing their third-choice goalkeeper, they are still going strong in all competitions. No doubt, Man U are top in the Premiership but they have not been performing in other cups & even lost to Southend! At a time when they need cover in the midfield, Fergie feels more at ease to secure a striker first. This can only be good news to Chelsea. As always, Chelsea wins the title easily because their opponents are unable to fight to the end.

The upcoming matches over the festives period will prove to be crucial for the chasing packs and for those at the other end of the table as well.

Curbs has shown why he was so highly regard in the managers' world.I was scratching my head last night as I was wondering isn't this the same Hammers that was trounced by Bolton just last week.We could clearly see how the Devils were frustrated by the gung-ho playing style of Westham. You gotta take your hats off to Curbs.A win they deserved nontheless.Lets see how far these talented Hams can go under the guidance of Curbs.

As Sir Alex has repeated over and over again this season, his team need to kill opponents off and be clinical in their finishing. After the match last night we can clearly understand his worry. With some poor finishing and great saves from Green,Devils got a small hiccup.

Unlike over at Goodison Park where Lamps and Drog came up with stunning goals.Thats clinical for you.Howard just hate volleys, isn't it.Just 2pts before catching up Devils, the most intriguing title chase in recent years eh.

Hey Ernest, you must be one hell of a player man.Read the part you said you find it easier to volley than a smashing pile-driver.Man thats a whooping technique to learn. But that Taylor guy just made it looks so simple again, against Gunners this time.

Cheers

Chelsea will definetly overtake Man U.With 2 points apart,Chelsea can lead the table.Look at the players they bought at the last transfer window. All have settle down and started performing brillintly.Almost every position they have a star player to back up if ones injured.
Lets look at last weeks game.
Though Chelsea going behind by a goal twice did not panic but in the end won it.They though are going to the end of the game still took the risk and shoot from the outside twice and scored both, but Man U,though trilling by a goal with 15 mins to go,started panicing. You can see Ronaldo start shooting like in all direction but all wide.even during injure time, a corner kick is awarded to Man U and guesse what,Edwin Van Der Sar went up to the penalty box and rooney went to be the last man!!! what were they thinking?? Rooney have better scoring ability then Van Der Sar but why did they do that???That shows that if any of both sides are thrilling late in the game, Chelsea may get back but not Man u.
Soo Chelsea 2006-2007 EPL Champions

It boils down to which team has the greater belief. The current Chelsea team resembles the treble winning Man U team of 1999. Incredible character, never-say-die attitude and will keep on trying to push for the equalizer or the winning goal throughout the match. This is the hallmark of a champion. They are still the team to beat in EPL. To be champions in EPL, you have to be above Chelsea come May.

It's no wonder Ferguson is feeling the heat. The 5 point cushion is no longer there. Many of the players in the team were used to be chasing Chelsea for the past 2 years, now that they are at the top, they have failed to pile on the pressure on Chelsea by winning at West Ham. Complacency and wastefulness is starting to creep into Man U's play. If Man U desires to win the EPL title, they have to do much more than what they have done so far. Chelsea's incredible consistency means any error made by Man U will be magnified.

If Man U do not shaped up, they will be displaced by Chelsea at the end of the next 6 games as league leaders. When that happens, it will be hard for Man U to stop the Chelski bandwagon!

This comes from a very good source. Mourinho is going to Man at the end of the season. Chelsea are happy to see him go as he has fallen out big time with Abramovic.
